System Recommendations


  • Computer (PC) and Connectivity Requirements
  • Be sure to use a supported browser.
    • PC Users: Internet Explorer 6.0 or Firefox 3.x or above.
  • Configure the browser cache. 99% of problems are due to incorrect "cache" browser settings.
  • Configure cookies, JavaScript, pop-up blocker.
  • Install addons to view lessons
  • NOTE: Do NOT open more than one browser window while being logged into the system. It is suggested to use only one browser window while logged into the system.

Computer and Internet Connectivity Requirements

The Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE) is an Internet-based application capable of running on a minimal computer setup so long as it is running a recent version of a properly configured browser and a more recent computer.

General System Requirements

  • Screen resolution set to 1024 X 768
  • PC's should be running Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • System should have at least 512 MB RAM but recommended is 2 GB RAM
  • Bandwidth speed - 512 K minimum is required. DSL or Cable strongly advised.

User must have regular, reliable Internet access (minimum 512K modem) for satisfactory performance. Many courses require high-speed connections for interactive multimedia such as PowerPoint, Digital Video, etc. If the connectivity is slower than a 512K modem, user might experience slow response.

PC Supported Browsers (Browser Requirements)

The recommended web browsers for PC users are Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or later and Firefox 3.0 or later versions. Other web browsers may not function properly.

PC Browser Cache Settings

99% of technical problems are due to incorrect browser "cache" settings.

The browser cache stores pages downloaded to the computer from the Internet. As user works, application is continually updating and storing pages in a database that is on a remote server, not locally on the computer. The browser must be set to always go out to the server and get new pages from the server and to not use old pages stored on the computer or errors will occur.

Changing Internet Explorer Cache Settings (PC)
  • Click on the Tools Menu > Select Internet Options
  • Click on the General tab > Under Browsing History, click on the Delete ... button.
  • In the Temporary Internet Files area, click the Delete Files ... button to clear the cache. Close that window.
  • Next, click on the Settings button (still in General > Browsing History area) and check, Every time I visit the webpage.
  • Change Days to keep pages in history to 0.
  • Click the OK button at the bottom of the Settings window.
  • Click the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.

Changing Mozilla Firefox Cache Settings (PC)

  • Click on the Tools Menu and select Options
  • Click on the Advanced icon > Network tab to view the settings.
  • Enter 0 (zero) KB of disc space for the cache and click on the Clear Now button.
  • Click on the OK Button
  • Open a browser window, delete the address in the URL bar and type about:config. Press the Return key to see Firefox settings.
  • NOTICE: do not include the http prefix here
  • Scroll down to browser.cache.check_doc_frequency. It should be set to 3. If it's not, double click on the text and in the resulting dialogue box, enter 3 and click OK.

  • Close window, exit and restart Firefox to enact the change.

Browser Tune up - IE and Firefox
Enable Javascript and cookies, and disable pop-up blocking

User should perform the following adjustments to optimize the browser for use with SBG e-Learning Portal.

Enable Java & Javascript

User will need to perform the following adjustments:

Internet Explorer

  • From the Menu, select Tools
  • Select Internet Options >> Security >> Custom level
  • Scroll down to Scripting (near the bottom of the list)
  • Select 'enable' for Active Scripting
  • Click OK
  • Continue on to Step 2: Enable Cookies as listed below

Firefox - PC

  • From the Tools menu, select Options
  • Click on the Content icon
  • Make sure the Enable Java and Enable Javascript checkboxes are selected
  • Be sure Block pop-up windows is NOT checked
  • Continue on to Step 2: Enable Cookies as listed below

Enable Cookies

User will need to enable cookies in order to log in to SBG portal and maintain sessions (not get logged out).

Internet Explorer

  • Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu
  • Click on the "Privacy" tab
  • Manually slide the bar down to "Medium" (3rd up from bottom) under "Settings"
  • Click "OK"

Firefox - PC

  • From the Tools menu, select Options
  • Click on the Privacy icon
  • Check "Accept cookies from sites
  • Click "OK"

To disable pop-up blockers for SBG e-Learning Portal:

Search the hard drive for any software with "pop-up" in the name. Disable it or set the SBG e-Learning Portal URL (http://mybanklearning.sbi.co.in) as an allowed site. Examples of popular pop-up blocking applications include:

  • Pop-Up Stopper
  • Pop-Up Defender
  • Pop-Up Zapper

Pop-up blocking functions are included in some anti-virus, internet security, personal firewall, and browser programs. Disable the relevant setting in the program or set the SBG e-Learning Portal URL (http://mybanklearning.sbi.co.in) as an allowed site.

Addons required to view lessons

To View the lessons properly please install the following software as per the user system configuration (32 bit or 64 bit) (these are available after logging in to the portal → utilities → downloads)
